In sickness and In health

In sickness and In health

bants
I've had this post sitting in draft for some 4 months now. How hard can it be to put your thoughts together in a post, yeah? Not really I'd say. But I wasn't really sure about how to put my opinion out there without sounding like a relationship counselor / expert (that I'm clearly not). I heard something a few weeks ago which struck a chord within me, hence propelling this post. Here's what I heard: It's easy to love when you feel it. Try loving when you don't feel it - that's where the real work is. The media today makes love look easy. From #RelationshipGoals to #MCM and #WCW. From engagement bl(r)ings flying all over the place to photographers delighting us with their best pre-wedding and wedding shoots with the poise and…

Earthlings, Greetings! :) We good? I believe so. This happened 2 Sundays ago - May 30 - I shared a link to this journal to about 6 friends to read through and enjoy. I got mushy comments from all of them, which was sweet. Looool I kinda liked that they liked it. Thanks guys and gals. Remember here, where I was pondering on how I'm the only author, reader and user of this journal for the reasons stated there. So what was the prompt to share it for the first time now ? It's been a year since this started! Time flies, yeah ? It seemed about time to come out of the "online closet" . First post was on 1 June, 2014.  44 posts, 740 views, 279 visitors and 2 comments…

Not-so-Sad Saturday

Not-so-Sad Saturday

bants
Today is one of those days; when everything and everyone in the world is being defensive against you and you don't even have the strength to fight back. Although it "seems" like you have it all sorted out but there's still that deep down emptiness. I don't do depressed! No way! I always feel the need to sort it ASAP. I don't try to escape it by hanging out, shopping or some other juvenile activities . I address it. So, In my typical fashion, I searched through my mind to figure out what the problem was. Could it be the super slow internet connectivity that's killing my mojo -  Probably. I hate snail-speed internet. Or the fact that a colleague called me to revisit some work someone else started about a month ago?…

Sideliner or MVP?

Sideliner or MVP?

Poker
Wow! It's been weeks! Very long! I apologize. Roller coaster life as usual. No excuses though. This Poker just struck me while listening to The Wally show on WHGG 1090 - that's Great radio station with amazing Christian Contemporary Music by the way. They are based in the US, so I listen to them all day everyday on TuneIn Here's the Poker Would you rather be the Most Valuable Player on a Losing team or the Side-liner on a Winning Team ? #Deep yeah? Requires some thought. Some of these questions come to mind though: Do I really care about team success or personal achievement? Do I really care to even succeed within as a group or as an individual? How much does team effort mean to me? How much does personal achievement mean to…

Introducing . . . Poker

Poker
Hi Guys, I went through my gmail Drafts and saw this thought that I documented on the 22nd of May, 2014 - almost a year ago: If I had money, I'd feed children... Not-minding the fallacy loaded in the first half of the statement - "If I had money" (because I do have money. LOL), I was wondering what came to mind when I wrote that. I think the question that came to mind when I wrote that was What's the best you will give a person in need, If money was not a factor? I've revisited that draft occasionally and from that single statement, I've built dreams for my future which I will achieve in coming days. I also realize that a good number of young people are not exactly sure…

The Shock Therapists!

The Shock Therapists!

Zadok
Let's be honest. Once in a while when I read the bible, I usually think like this "Bros, na wah o! E be like say you harsh small sha." Yeah! Because, mehn! Jesus' love can be tough at times and some of the bible prophets can raise the standards so high, they leave you wondering how you can cope. I particular like to read my bible in "The Message" translation. It's so verbatim, direct and just funny at times in it's translations. Imagine these: In John 16:33, Jesus says In this godless world, you will continue to experience difficulties. Wow! No mincing of words. You'll experience difficulties. That's all Matthew 19:21, Jesus says If you want to give it all you've got,” Jesus replied, “go sell your possessions; give everything…

Sprinkles of Personality

Sprinkles of Personality

bants, uberhuman
Hi Peoples! I hope we are as giddy as I am right now. It was my birthday earlier this week and I did some personal therapy - I removed all Facebook notifications about my birthday, I made no Instagram posts, no reminders to anyone. Basically no hint of my birthday anywhere. However, Skype snitched on me by even broadcasting my age! (Shucks!). But that was still manageable. What was i hoping to achieve ? Self-love. *drops mic* How so? I was actually curious about which people will remember (knowing that I'm a big time "crammer" of other people's birthday dates). More importantly, I wanted to know how I'd feel if I didn't get the regular and cliche messages from people that "just stumbled on my date" on social media and felt the need…

Election Saga

Election Saga

bants
Since the beginning of the year, the Nigerian elections have been the talk of town. Campaigns all over the place. Funny ones by the way, e.g Random traffic at odd hours of the day. Politicians, law makers and elder states men blurting out loads of crap from their mouths just to keep their choice applicant in power. I must say this - Nigeria is an exciting and funny place at the moment, at least for those who do not take life too hard on themselves and see a glimmer of funny even in awkward situations. The things that amaze me the most is people's discussions and perceptions. For about 3 weeks now, my team members and I spend nothing less that 1.5 hours a day discussing the elections and happenings around us. I happen to…

Start-up & Corporate Work Way

bants, WorkMonkey
About 5 months ago, I switched jobs. I left a start-up company which I was working with for almost 3 years to launch a career in the corporate world. Before I started the job, I took a one month break  which I spent in the US and documented here, here and here in order to "reset". I decided that I was gonna experience the whole corporate world and not try to mishmash it with my start up life for the first few months. So I'll have an undiluted and wholesome experience. Upon starting, I immediately noted the difference in both kind of lives. Independent woman - Do as I please Working with the start-up meant that I could just wake up and decide to do things on my own time without considering how…

Emotional Investment or nah ?

Emotional Investment or nah ?

bants
Hello Mortals! How y'all doing? I'm great. This morning, the gist is about Emotional Investment or Emotional Bank Account. Yes. I've come to realize that a good number of things we are able to get done or achieve with the help of other people and even the reaction we get from them has a lot to do with the amount of goodwill they have gauged in stock for us. And more importantly, that level of goodwill can increase and reduce over time based on some actions or inactions. This means that just like a typical bank, you deposit and withdraw from your account and when you have no money left, withdrawing will either be impossible or will put you in a debt. If you have a lot of money, the bank will…
